Fidelity Roof Company Celebrates 60th Anniversary

OAKLAND, Calif. –- July 16, 2008 -- Fidelity Roof Company, one of the Bay Area’s oldest family-owned businesses, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.  Fidelity Roof Company was founded in 1948 by Ernest Upshaw to provide the highest quality roof systems in the Bay Area.  Since that time three generations of the Upshaw family have been at the helm continuing Ernest’s vision of providing customers the kind of service you would for your family. 

“As we look back over the past 60 years since my father founded the company, we are proud to say we have delivered on his original promise to provide superior roofing services to our customers.  We look forward to the future with a re-dedication to the principles embodied in the name, Fidelity Roof Company,” said chairman and son of the founder, Monte Upshaw.

Founded in 1948
Ernest Upshaw worked in the roofing industry for over 10 years prior to deciding it was time to form his own company. Upshaw hired a staff of like-minded roofing professionals who were, in his words, “dedicated to the faithful attention to the roofing needs of home and business owners alike.”

Rather than naming the company after himself, Upshaw focused on what his team of dedicated employees would provide to existing and new customers.  He chose the word Fidelity for the new company since it represented the embodiment of Upshaw’s business principles:  integrity, stability, faithfulness, authenticity, dependability, reliability and strength.

Looking Ahead
Fidelity Roof Company grew and evolved into a full-service roofing company for large industrial buildings as well as residential properties. Fidelity offers substantial experience in every major roofing system on the market, and recently launched a solar division to enhance their residential and commercial services.

“The expansion into solar installations was driven by our clients’ desire to realize the benefits of going green. We’ve been repairing and providing solar installations through subcontractors for over 10 years.  Hiring an in-house team of solar professionals was a natural progression of the services we’ve provided to our customers for 60 years,” said Upshaw.
